COUNTRY Fire Authority units responded to reports of a B-Double truck fire on Natimuk-Hamilton Road on Sunday, March 6.

Crews were called to the scene 14 kilometres north of Balmoral at around 3.30pm.

The truck was carrying mining sand and the trailer was on fire when crews arrived.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

There were initial concerns that the sands could be hazardous and an exclusion zone was established.

However, the level of radiation was low and Hazmat was cancelled.

Worksafe, EPA, VicRoads and the Department of Health were contacted.

Victoria Police directed traffic away from the area during the incident.

The fire was declared under control and extinguished at around 4.15pm before the scene was declared safe at around 5.30pm.
