Business gain insight into local tourism
Dimboola business owners have been brought up to date on developments within the district.
The group gathered on August 22 for Hindmarsh Shire Council's business network event.
During the session at Dimboola Rowing Club the audience gained insight into local projects and organisations.
As well as organising the event, council's manager of economic development and tourism Mark Fletcher made a presentation on how council could assist businesses and spoke about current activities and opportunites for local operators.
"There's plenty to see and do in the region," Mr Fletcher said.
"My job is to see how businesses can improve and attract visitors."
Paul Atherton from Donald Mineral Sands discussed the particular works that were required to get the mine up and running.
"We're encouraging workers to be a part of the community there," Mr Atherton said.
Questions were raised around the accommodation village, with one person asking about accommodation being built in Dimboola to attract visitors to the town.
Grampians Wimmera Mallee (GWM) Tourism's Wimmera Mallee partnerships manager Ian Gumela spoke about how businesses across the region could become involved with tourism and support it and grow.
"We have the best unknown assets," Mr Gumela said.
He shared information on GWM Tourism's visitor economy partnership and ways in which businesses could use tourism platforms to promote and grow their own enterprises.
"We're putting you all and your businesses first," Mr Gumela said.
