Horsham jobseekers in work following successful hospitality bootcamp
Horsham's first hospitality bootcamp was met with overwhelming success for all who attended.

PARTICIPANTS of the recent Horsham Hospitality Bootcamp will be soon beginning work trials after a successful training week.
Horsham Hospitality Bootcamp, which ran from February 28 to March 3, was a course run by MADEC Australia which aimed to provide trainees with nationally accredited work certificates in what? as well as practical knowledge.
Local Jobs Program employment facilitator Tony Laria said the bootcamp was a great opportunity for job seekers to get in touch with their local employers.
“It is terrific to see job seekers, employment service providers and the hospitality and tourism business community come together,” he said.
“The boot camp gives jobseekers the opportunity to gain new skills and training, confidence, industry certifications, and then, on completion of the boot camp, it allows jobseekers to get a chance to meet with employers in an informal environment.
“Because of this we have filled several urgent vacancies in hospitality in the Horsham area.”
At the end of the course participants were receiving text messages from employers for meetings and offers for work trials.
MADEC Australia Horsham area manager Dee Devlin said the program provided an opportunity for participants to connect with local employers from a variety of hospitality backgrounds.
“The bootcamp went great with the employers and jobseekers getting to know each other,” she said.
“We had nine participants meet with ten employers ... We had a mix of employers from pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants, and all with different needs. It’s great because we were then able to identify them with the most suitable candidates.
“The jobseekers are confident and ready to start their new careers in the hospitality industry after completing the bootcamp and employers are thrilled that they have some training and certifications.”

Following the success of the course, Ms Devlin said plans for another hospitality bootcamp are already in motion. “We have had a lot of feedback from the employers of the program thanking us for doing it and saying it was a fantastic program,” she said.
“As a result of the bootcamp eight jobseekers had interviews, six of which resulted in work trials and four possible apprenticeships.
“After the great success of this hospitality bootcamp another will be organised soon.”
