They had played Natimuk twice this year, losing on both occasions. Despite winning last year, they came in as the underdog and the Kees were pumped up.

It was close early, with Natimuk taking a two-goal lead into quarter-time and the Kees reducing the margin to one at half-time.

In the third quarter, the Kees started to gain momentum, capitalising on turnovers and took a three-goal lead into the final break.

It was a highly-fought quarter, but the Kees maintained their slender lead and won 30-28.

Lisa Fulton shot 26 goals for the Kees and was awarded the best on the court medal. Melissa Beddison was also solid at goal attack, shooting three goals and creating many attacking options.

Codi-Rae Fisher scored 26 goals for Natimuk, with Michelle Trigg and Jo Taylor named their best at goal and wing defence, respectively.

Kalkee coach Mel Beddison said it's a pretty good feeling.

"I have coached on and off since 2010 and the last two years, have coached B-grade and captained a couple before that, but to win another one is a pretty good feeling," Beddison said.

"We hadn't beaten them all year, and to be able to win was a good result for us. We knew we had to stick together as a team, and we have some experienced players from finals previously, and they knew what to do, and it paid off."
