After playing forward most of his life, Wright was earmarked as a defender. Coaches witnessed his jumping and marking capacity, and he said it stuck. He is thrilled the team was able to win the premiership.

"People saw that I could jump and I was an instant marker and decided to play me back, and I have improved as the year has gone on," Wright said.

"I am excited we won the premiership, and we all played well, and the Demons put up a good fight."

Coach Matthew Combe said Wright will be a superstar.

"The first minute he took a screamer, I thought he would set the backline alight, and he did, and you know he will always take a mark or do something," Combe said.

"He is going to be a superstar in the senior competition."
